Welcome Letter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your child in Math this year. My name is Mr. Medel, and I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and success.

This year, we will be focusing on several key areas to ensure your child has a well-rounded and enriching educational experience. One of the strategies we will be implementing is the Claim Evidence Reasoning (CER) strategy, which helps students develop critical thinking and reasoning skills. This approach encourages students to make claims, support them with evidence, and explain their reasoning. It’s a valuable tool that will benefit them in all areas of their education and beyond.

Here are a few important points for the upcoming school year:

Communication: Open and effective communication between parents, students, and teachers is essential. I will be using ClassDojo to keep you updated on class activities, assignments, and important dates. ClassDojo is a great tool for instant communication and updates. Please make sure to join our ClassDojo class using the invitation code that will be sent home with your child. Additionally, you can always reach me via email at [email protected] or by phone at 323-235-7200 with any questions or concerns.
Homework and Assignments: Homework will be assigned regularly and is an important part of the learning process. Please encourage your child to complete their assignments on time and to the best of their ability. If your child is struggling with any concepts, I am here to help and support them.
Classroom Expectations: We will work together to create a positive and respectful classroom environment. Students are expected to be respectful, responsible, and ready to learn each day. I believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where every student feels valued and capable of achieving their best.
Parent Involvement: Your involvement in your child’s education is crucial. I encourage you to participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and any other opportunities to engage with our school community. Your support and partnership make a significant difference in your child’s academic success.
